Ever wanted to travel overseas for your medical elective? If your answer is yes, we have great news for you as our first ever SCOPE program is beginning next summer!
Why should you apply?
You get to do your elective in another country without having to tediously organise the placement and logistics yourself – we pretty much do the work for you.
Applications are currently open to complete a four-week elective in 1 of 8 countries during July 2017: Japan, Indonesia, Ghana, Brazil, Portugal, Germany, Catolona & Austria. For our inaugural year, we have 4 spots in total for UCC Medical Students.
Application Closing Date: 25/11/2016 at 23:59.
Includes: 4 Week Hospital Placement, Accommodation & 1 Meal Per Day. Local social programme also available (additional costs may be required)
GEM3 & DEM4: Meets criteria for MX4090.
Open to all clinical years (Priority will be given to successful GEM3 & DEM4 applicants).
Here are the steps to apply:
Step 1: Online Application Form
Upon completion of the online application form, email supporting documents listed below to LEO.AMSIUCC@gmail.com
2. Motivation Letter for why you’d like to complete an elective abroad (max 1 page)
3. Most recent academic grade transcript (2016)
*by signing up for this program you are automatically signing up as a member of AMSI UCC and our mailing list
Step 2: Short Interview
Short interview with your Local SCOPE committee between 26th November & 4th December 2016 (Either by Skype or in person).
Step 3: Successful Applicants Complete Relevant Paperwork
Confirmation of successful candidates by 5th December 2016.
Accepted students fill in the Relevant Paperwork & Card of Documents required for their host country. (Half of the fee will be payable at this point)
Step 4: Acceptance
Student will receive a Card of Acceptance from the host country which specifies which city and department the student will be placed in.
Step 5: Exchange Confirmation
Students must send the Card of Confirmation to confirm they will accept their spot. Remaining half of the fee are payable at this point.
